Does anyone know if IE6 works with cpanel webmail systems?

I have a client who cannot log in. Tried everything.

There's no excuse for running IE6 considering the considerable security risks. Suggest IE7, IE8, Firefox, or Chrome. I kind of doubt that is the issue though, but it might keep them out of your hair for awhile.

I do have a computer running IE 6 that I use for testing websites. I can login to cPanel webmail without any issues (using both webmail.domain.tld and www.domain.tld/webmail), so the problem is not IE6.

Yes, thats true, but you'll be surprised by the number of people (including some fortune 500 companies I do consulting for) that still use IE6 as thier default browser. So I test all the websites I design on IE 6 as well.

I'm sure it's a firewall now. I think I've found a work around. Waiting for response from client. We've had 99 emails going back and forth on this.

Robby,
Can you try this:

webmail.domain.com in IE6. Log all the way in and tell me if you can view an email.

TIA
Thomas

Hi Thomas,
Yes, I can view the emails and also send/receive them in IE6 using webmail.domain.tld. Let me know if you need me to do any more tests. Thanks!

If you use webmail.domain.com, you are able to use the HTTP port and login. So even if there is a firewall, you will be able to login. When I did the test, I was behind a firewall and could not login using www.domain.com/webmail but I could login using webmail.domain.com in IE6. Hope this helps.

That's very helpful to know! Someone bookmark this I'm sure it will come up again for someone at some point!
