Use LastPass from LastPass.com so that you can make your passwords very obscure and yet never have to remember them. It's free for your desktop computer and only $12/year for your phone. Don't reuse passwords that you use elsewhere. If one of the places your password is used is breached, the hackers...

Re: Hacker Spammer Handed Me A Really Bad Day.
Hey AZ, Wow, you too. Sounds like you're really clamping things down. One thing I've found that has helped is setting WHM to require passwords to be above 50 on the quality scale. I plan on going higher. I started at 40, dealt with a flurry of client requests. Then 6 months later 50, much fewer clie...

Hacker Spammer Handed Me A Really Bad Day.
A server migration is a very stressful process. In an effort to make some dramatic improvements, you have to move hundreds of websites, email, databases, software and other stuff off of one server and install all of this onto another. No matter how much planning you do, something, somewhere, at some...

Re: Anyone Ever Migrate from DirectAdmin
George and ALL, Based on George's recommendation I checked out cPanel's migration service along with LiquidWeb and Reliable Penguin. The first one is free but requires a good deal of personal and technical involvement by the host. I never got a firm price from LW but RP is $700 (plus time for migrat...

I get it, but how are the images created? Is it just a prefabricated one? Also, does NSM work with aliases in cPanel?
Pretty cool idea.

It' started happening a LOT recently. Navi was able to fix it (so far) completely by compressing a specific file. I can't say which one in public. I will send a PM. Clearing this file solved the problem.

George,
Wow, that seems like a great option.
Note: WHMCS no longer does migrations to their billing system.

Anyone Ever Migrate from DirectAdmin
I wish to migrate a group of accounts from Direct Admin. Cpanel has the ability to do this but I'm wondering if anyone has any experience using the move tool?
for that matter, if you have experience using this tool for cpanel to cpanel servers, please let me know if it worked OK for you.

Hmm, I like that. Then you could write a batch file to do multiple accounts. Or, one could create a list of accounts within the script that it will effect.

Deny IPs Quickly (cpanel)
I hate form spammers. I block spammers who abuse my forms via the .htaccess file in an account. The problem is that it takes a minute to edit the stupid file regularly. It's those repeated tasks that drive me nuts. So I wrote a quick script that does the job in less than a second. It requires comman...

Re: I HATE fighting charge backs
If you use WHMCS and they update their card there, you can confirm that they used a password to access the account and to pay the bill along with their IP Address. So the credit card company says, "That doesn't prove that someone else didn't use their computer". Good grief. Anyway, I just got a cred...

I had a surprise last night when my server went off line. I called and Navisite said that it was planned maintenance announced previously. I'm quite surprised that I didn't get any notice. New DSM Interface
Anybody have an opinion on the new DSM look and feel? My first impression is that it's more difficult to find things when everything requires a click to see what's in a category. Thankfully I'm familiar enough with it to find what I need. Also, it's interesting that they're still developing this old...

Re: Apache Redirect to URL w/ query string %3f instead of ?
What code did you place in your httpd.conf or .htaccess ? I tried in firefox and got a 404 - no redirect happened in the address bar http://sparklingvintagelife.com/lookup-arf What the heck is the "lookup-arf" That's not in my quote above. Anyway, here's the code RedirectMatch 301 ^sparklingvintage...

I'm cutting/pasting the URL. I don't think that it's operator error even though that was my first thought.

Try it yourself, the domain is http://sparklingvintagelife.com
