My first DMCA take-down notice

Post by Arf » Wed May 23, 2012 7:04 pm

I got my first DMCA take-down notice for a site. Actually just a section of a page. LW received the notice and passed it along to me for action. LW did a nice job at explaining how to handle the request.

At issue was a HYPERLINK promoting a trademarked company's website. The problem was that it was in a page full of other links. The website owner probably doesn't realize that this can cause problems with SEO. They didn't want the link. So, rather than contact the website owner, they lawyered up and sent a stupid letter to LW.

Be careful who you link to.
