Hey guys, just looking for some feedback here..
I ordered a new server from LW, after they promised me this:
Processor: Intel Xeon E3-1220 V2 3.1GHZ Quad Core
RAM: 16GB DDR3 SDRAM
HD1: 2x 250GB SSD Software RAID 1
/boot - 500MB
<swap> - 8GB
/ - remaining space (ext4) (including /tmp)
HD2: 1TB SATA Backup Drive
Here I thought I was getting 2 x 250GB disk drives.. only to be told after the setup, that in fact it's only:
It would appear that you do have two 250GB SSD drives but the RAID 1 settings the second drive is a mirrored of the first drive. This provides redundancy in the event that the first drive were to fail. So the second drive is there but it's being used to as part of the RAID.
Am I wrong to think 2x implies two different drives?

Sorry, I have to side with Liquidweb here.
RAID1 implies 2 drives, so you're getting 2 250GB SSD drives set up in a RAID1 mirror.
Then 1 1TB SATA drive as a backup drive.

Yes, I'm afraid so.
HD1: 2x 250GB SSD Software RAID 1
Means to me that (HD1) Hard Drive Number 1 (not one and two) will be made up of two drives configured in RAID 1, resulting in 250 GB total storage.
I just ordered a similar server. They really make their money in the "configuration fee".
