Status server

Hi guys,
I am pretty sure you guys already discussed this and I jsut cant seem to find it. I want to have a webpage that shows my server status (a page updated by me not an automated thing). Ideally I want it hosted on my server, but when the server goes down (hopefully it doesnt but we know they do) then the site would be gone. So I want to have space setup someplace else that would display the stauts.

So what is the best way to accomplish this? a super low ttl on the domain and then update the ns when an outage occurs?

best option is to host this site on another host's server so it stays up when your server goes down
